ON GOING Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical (NGMC) needs caring individuals and groups to volunteer their time and compassion to help serve patients coping with terminal illnesses. Volunteer opportunities will accommodate anyone's schedule and interest whether you want to provide support and companionship for patients and families on a regular basis, provide clerical support in the office or help with an event or project once a year. Many flexible options are available that will allow anyone the opportunity to volunteer with Hospice of NGMC. Free training and ongoing support are provided. M. to 5:00 P. M. Due to short staffing, the site was formerly open only Friday through Sunday. Thanks in part to an administrative reorganization of Georgia’s state parks and historic sites, Traveler’s Rest is now fully staffed for the first time since 1997 with a full-time manager and utility worker as well as a part-time tour guide. In addition to regular tours of the historic 1815 stagecoach inn and plantation home, the site will be offering more special events and educational programs throughout the year. To view the rare Shoal Lilly along the lower section of the Broad River between Highway 17 and Highway 79 at the mouth of Clark Hill Lake. We will meet at the Broad River WMA Camp Ground on Highway 79 at 9:30 A. M. May 17, 2008, and will canoe from Highway 17 to Highway 79 in Elbert, Wilkes, and Lincoln Counties. The rare Shoal Lilly that grows along the Broad River should be in full bloom at this time. During the float, we will also do a river cleanup as part of National River Cleanup Week. Rice leads his own bands and has performed worldwide with such music industry stars as Aretha Franklin. The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Dells and Al Jarreau. Rice will join the Symphony in presenting medleys of the music of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington and of the musical show "Chicago." A salute to big bands is on the program, as well as classics tunes of Richard Rogers and George Gershwin, and "Georgia on My Mind." Advance adult tickets for the 4:00 P.
