Ashley Jordan Adams a “Face of Manufacturing”

A local woman is honored for her role in manufacturing.

Georgia Tech and the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership recently recognized Ashley Jordan Adams for being named the August 2015 Face of Manufacturing.

The Faces of Manufacturing Program honors people throughout the state who work within or are affected by manufacturing companies.

The goal is to showcase manufacturing’s impact to Georgia communities and continue to promote manufacturing as a thriving industry within the state.

Bill Nusbaum with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership said they were impressed with Ashley’s story of going from someone who had no interest in joining the family business, Meadowbrook Machine and Tool, as a young girl to someone who has now earned her machining degree and is building a career at the business run by her father in Toccoa.

“As time went on, she went and got a degree in something she thought she was going to be interested in but it turns out her real interest in manufacturing,” said Nusbaum. “Hopefully this will be a second generation for MMT. That helps everybody.”

Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin nominated Ashley for the award.

He said her story is one that needs to be told and heard.

“Manufacturing for over 100 years has been very important to our local economy,” said Martin. “Certainly, we are very proud of Meadowbrook Machine and Tool and Ashley Jordan Adams, what a fine young lady. We heard her story and we thought the world needed to know it.”

Ashley was presented with an award and has had an article written about her and published.

She said she is proud to share her story with others through this program.

“What I thought of manufacturing is not what manufacturing really is,” she said. “It is for women too, not just men.”

Ashley said she is also honored to be recognized as part of this program.
