A suspect wanted in connection with a home invasion earlier this month in Banks County has been captured in the state of Louisiana.

According to Banks County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sergeant Carissa McFaddin, Jackson Lewis Sanders was arrested in Baton Rouge over the weekend.

“Sanders is currently facing charges with their jurisdiction,” said McFaddin.

McFaddin said that the Banks County Sheriff’s Office was notified Monday of Sanders’ arrest in Baton Rouge.

Back on July 17, Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Highway 59 near Industrial Drive in reference to a possible home invasion.

When deputies arrived at the residence, authorities found the suspect had fled the scene.

Throughout the early morning hours of the 17th, Banks County authorities searched for Sanders with the help of the Georgia State Patrol, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department, and Lee Arrendale Corrections K9 Unit.

However, by mid-morning the search was called off and McFaddin said it is believed Sanders was able to escape in a vehicle and flee the area.

A lookout was then placed for Sanders who was believed to be with a female in a stolen vehicle.

McFaddin said now that Sanders has been found and arrested, he will be returned to Georgia.

“Once he makes bond from those charges, we will extradite and bring him back to Banks County,” said McFaddin.

McFaddin said Sanders is also facing other charges in Georgia, including armed robbery.
