Be Careful About Post Holiday Trash

The holidays means a lot of presents, which can also mean a lot of empty product boxes to get rid of.

Law enforcement officials remind people to make sure they are not showing off the expensive items now in the home when the boxes are thrown out.

According to law enforcement, thieves drive up and down streets to scope out homes they want to burglarize later on, looking for evidence of valuables, like empty boxes, and writing down the addresses for homes that might be good targets.

Authorities recommend putting trash that cannot be recycled in a dark trash bag that cannot be seen through and also waiting until the day of pickup if possible to put trash and recycling material next to the road.
