BOE Adopts Pre-K Start Date; 2018-19 Calendar

The Stephens County School System will once again start its Pre-K students a day earlier than the rest of the school system.

On Tuesday, the Board of Education unanimously approved a Pre-K start date of August 2, 2017, a day earlier than the start date for Kindergarten and the rest of the system.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said it is something they tried last year that worked well and hope to continue in the future.

Also on Tuesday, the Board of Education unanimously approved the 2018-2019 school calendar.

The Board had already approved the 2017-2018 calendar several months back.

Dorsey said staying a full year ahead on the calendar can be very helpful for everybody, especially regarding planning.

According to Dorsey, the 2018-2019 calendar is very similar in structure to the 2017-2018 calendar that was previously approved.

Both calendars will be placed up on the school system’s website, www.stephenscountyschools.com.
