Busy Christmas Week in Toccoa
Downtown Toccoa hosted Christmasfest on Friday night. Santa, carriage rides, a live nativity, church walk, and entertainment were all part of the festivities.
Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that the evening went very well.
“It was a beautiful night because it was a little nippy, but it was not so cold, so we had a lot of families here tonight and just had a great turnout,” said Crosby. “We had some beautiful trees at the Festival of Trees and one of my favorite parts tonight was the Christmas play that the lawyers did. That was an excellent thing and very well-attended.”
Other events on Saturday morning in downtown included a “Breakfast with Santa” and a Christmas Sage market.
Meanwhile, the annual Toccoa Christmas Parade took place Saturday afternoon in downtown Toccoa.
The winners for the parade, sponsored by the Toccoa Woman’s Club, are as follows:
Best Overall Winner – City of Toccoa
School Category Winner – Stephens County Middle School FFA
Church and Civic Group Winner – Providence Methodist Church
Honorable Mention – Martin’s Grading
The annual Toccoa Symphony Christmas Concert took place on Sunday.
Just a reminder … the Festival of Trees remains up this week in the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today through Friday.
People can vote for their favorite tree for $1 and that dollar goes to the charity for that particular tree, while the tree with the most votes receives $500 as a grand prize for that charity.
