Byargeon Pleads Guilty; Sentenced to 30 Years In Prison

A former Stephens County jailer pleads guilty to child molestation and other charges.

Bobby Lee Byargeon of Toccoa pleaded guilty last week in Stephens County Superior Court to numerous charges, including child molestation, sexual exploitation of children, and cruelty to children in the first degree.

He was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison, followed by another 30 years probation.

Byargeon was arrested by state and local authorities back in March and grand jury indicted him in April.

Authorities say that Byargeon was accused of molesting a child under the age of 16.

The indictment states the incidents happened between January 2013 and March 2014.

Elsewhere, a Toccoa man pleaded guilty to numerous charges in connection to two different incidents last year.

Roger Dale Littleton pleaded guilty to charges of Theft by Taking, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Dumping, and Criminal Trespass recently in Stephens County Superior Court.

He was sentenced to a total of 10 years probation.

Littleton was arrested and charged last November in connection with two separate incidents.

He was charged with Theft by Taking and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property in connection to the theft of vehicles from Stephens County that were taken to Oconee County, South Carolina, where authorities say they were sold for scrap.

Authorities say the other charges against Littleton stem from dumping tires illegally onto the property of a Stephens County resident on Black Mountain Road.
