City of Toccoa: Main Street Summer Events Doing Well

Summertime activities in downtown Toccoa are going very well.

That is according to Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby.

Both the Ida Cox Music Series and the Summer Movies at the Schaefer Center are moving into their second month here in July.

Crosby said that the Saturday night concerts that make up the Ida Cox Music Series continue to bring a lot of people out for great music.

“We have been real pleased with the turnouts for our concerts this Summer,” said Crosby. “Fortunately, we have had good weather.”

The Ida Cox Music Series takes place every Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. in downtown Toccoa on Doyle Street, through July 30.

It is free to attend.

In case of rain, the concerts move to the Schaefer Center.

Speaking of the Schaefer Center, Crosby said the summer movie series on Thursdays at the Schaefer Center is also growing in popularity.

“One of the things that has been growing is our 10 a.m. crowd,” said Crosby. “I think it has been nice for parents and grandparents to have something to bring children to during the day.”

Admission to the movies at the Schaefer Center is $1 and concessions are $1 each.

There are two show times for each movie, 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., each Thursday through July 28.
