City Says 12,000 Visited Pool Over Summer

The city of Toccoa is calling the 2015 season at the Doyle Street Pool a successful one.

City officials and Camp Fire Georgia released numbers for the 2015 season this week.

Toccoa Mayor Terry Carter said that the partnership between the two agencies worked very well again this summer.

Carter said he is pleased with how the summer went at the pool.

“We had over 12,000 users during that short season,” said Carter. “That averages over 100 users per day. I think that is well used. It is nice to see that such a wonderful facility is being used by our citizens.”

This was the first full season for the newly renovated Doyle Street Pool.

Toccoa re-opened the pool in August 2014.

Carter said the goal of the pool is to provide more summer recreational opportunities to families, children, school and church groups, swim teams, and others.

Both Carter and Camp Fire Georgia CEO Elaine Brinkley said they are excited for 2016 at the Doyle Street Pool.
