Clarkesville Special Election Set

The city of Clarkesville will hold a special election later this year to fill the city council seat vacated after the passing of Mayor Terry Greene.

This week, the Clarkesville City Council voted to set March 1 as the day Clarkesville voters will head to the polls to elect a mayor to serve the remainder of Greene’s term.

Greene died last month of what authorities called a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound after an incident at his home in Clarkesville.

Whoever wins the special election will serve out the remainder of Greene’s term in office.
