“Click It or Ticket” Campaign Underway

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Department launched the “Click it or Ticket” campaign May 22 and it’s ongoing until June 4.

As part of the campaign, deputies have been conducting safety checkpoints to ensure seatbelt usage. If a driver or passenger is not wearing a seatbelt at the checkpoints, they can be issued a citation.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, over Memorial Day weekend, there were 29 seatbelt violations.

This statewide campaign is to help increase seatbelt usage because almost 50 percent of people killed in motor vehicle accidents in 2015 weren’t wearing their seatbelts.
