Coan Wins Gold

Clarkesville’s McKenzie Coan is a Paralympic gold medalist.

Coan won a gold medal in the women’s S7 50-meter freestyle on Friday night at the Rio Paralympic Games.

In the process, she also set a new Paralympic record in the event, touching the wall in 32.42 seconds, breaking her own Paralympic record that she had set during the preliminary heats in the event.

This is the first Paralympic medal for Coan, who is the daughter of Dr. Marc Coan, who practices at the Toccoa Clinic.
