Collins Gets House Leadership Post

9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins is now one of the highest ranking House Republicans in Washington, D.C.

Tuesday, Collins was elected to serve as Vice Chair on the House Republican Conference in the 115th Congress.

It hosts meetings and is the primary forum for communicating the party’s message to members.

Collins called his election by his colleagues humbling.

“It was a great honor to be elected vice-chair of the Republican Conference,” said Collins. “Together, we are going to show the American people that is ours is the party of compassion, freedom, and fairness. As the blue wall crumbled last Tuesday night, it reminded everyone that support for conservative principles is deep and wide. Now, Republicans have a mandate to make room for hope and opportunity for all Americans and it is my honor to share in that responsibility.”

Collins is now the fifth ranking member of the House Republican Party.

He has represented the 9th District, which includes Stephens County and northeast Georgia, since 2013.
