Collins Issues Statement on Obama Executive Action

Georgia 9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins is responding to President Obama’s executive actions on gun control that were unveiled Tuesday.

Collins expressed opposition to the President’s moves.

He said eroding the Constitutional rights of law abiding citizens by executive order is not the direction in which we want to take the nation.

Collins said he is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, adding that opponents of the President’s executive actions in the House are looking at all options they have to make sure the President is not allowed to expand interpretations of existing law without the acknowledgment of Congress, including preventing funding from going to any of these initiatives.

On Tuesday, the President announced a series of actions on gun control, including the expansion of background checks.
