Collins to Make Stop in Toccoa Friday, Receives Subcommittee Assignments

9th District U.S. Congressman Doug Collins will hold community meetings in Stephens and Jackson counties this week.

Collins will be in Toccoa Friday to meet with local constituents and community leaders.

From 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., Collins will be at the Java Station Coffee Shop on Big A Road in Toccoa on Friday.

The day before his stop in Toccoa, Collins will be at the Jackson EMC Community Room on Commerce Road in Jefferson between 2 and 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Collins says that a Constituent Services Representative will also be on site to discuss specific casework issues.

Meanwhile, the new 9th District Representative has received his subcommittee assignments for the 113th Congress.

As previously announced in December, Collins will serve on the House Committees on Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, and Foreign Affairs.

According to Collins’ office, his subcommittee assignments are as follows:

Judiciary subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet and subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law

Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs and Subcommittee on Workforce, U.S. Postal Service and the Census

Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa and Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific

In a press release, Collins said he believes a lot of great legislative work can be accomplished from these subcommittees, and he is excited to roll up his sleeves and get to work.
