Commerce Man Arrested for Multiple Charges

In Banks County, a Commerce man is behind bars on multiple charges.
According to the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the arrest came on May 10 when multiple search warrants were served at various homes in Banks and Jackson counties.
Spokesman Mitchell Posey tells WNEG News Banks County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a TPO violation at a home on McDonald Circle in Commerce.
When they arrived, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jose’ Cabrera Jr. sped away with deputies in pursuit.
Cabrera was eventually pulled over and arrested on charges of violating a TPO and driving on a suspended license.
During the arrest, Posey said deputies discovered a quantity of marijuana in five-ounce packages in Cabrera’s vehicle, along with scales, packaging material and other drug-related material.
A warrant was then taken to search his home on Crestwood Drive in Commerce where Posey said they also found multiple firearms, ammunition, and more drug-related objects.
In Banks County, Cabrera Jr. was additionally charged with Aggravated Stalking and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Cabrera Jr. was also charged in Jackson County with Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He remains in the Banks County Detention Center.
