Concert to Benefit Humane Shelter

A concert coming up next month will help raise money for the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter.

The animal shelter is presenting an Elvis Tribute Artist Concert on September 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Stephens County High School’s Tugaloo Center for the Performing Arts in Toccoa.

This concert will star Cody Ray Slaughter with the David Fontana Band.

Peggy Chambers with the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter said Slaughter puts on an unbelievable Elvis show.

“We were just so lucky to get him,” said Chambers. “He is known to give one of the cleanest, most enthusiastic shows. It is absolutely wonderful.”

According to Chambers, Slaughter is licensed to perform at Graceland, an honor only bestowed on select individuals.

Chambers went on to say that the proceeds will benefit the animal shelter, providing needed financial assistance.

“We always have needs,” said Chambers. “There is an influx of animals. Donations help us keep our head above water. All the profit that we get from this event will go directly to the care of the animals.”

VIP Tickets are $30 and general admission tickets are $20.

To get tickets to the show, people can either go to the shelter on Scenic Drive or go online to www.tschs.org/tickets.

Chambers did say there also may be some tickets available on the night of the show at the Tugaloo Center.
