Cornelia Bank Robber Identified

A suspect has been identified and warrants have been issued for the suspect identified in Wednesday afternoon’s bank robbery in Cornelia.

According to Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith the suspect has been identified as Michael Anthony Gordon, 47, from White County.

Active warrants have been issued in Hall County on Gordon for robbing the United Community Bank in Clermont earlier this month.

According to a statement from Smith warrants issued on Thursday are for armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say the suspect robbed the South State Bank branch located inside an Ingles grocery store in Cornelia around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Anyone who sees Gordon is asked to call 9-1-1. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call their local police or sheriff’s office.
