Corps Waiving Day Use Fees For Veterans on Veterans Day

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is offering a special promotion for Veterans’ Day next month.

Corps officials said that day use fees will be waived on recreation areas at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Thurmond and Hartwell lakes for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families on Veterans Day, which is November 11.

The Corps said that the fee waiver requires only verbal confirmation of service.

This waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches.

It does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters.

According to the Corps, recreation areas at the Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake are not Corps-managed, but other agencies that manage recreation areas on Corps lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.

Corps officials said the Veterans Day fee waiver began in 2006 as a way to honor the men and women who have served America and the armed forces.
