County Comments On Election Case Dismissal

Stephens County Attorney Brian Ranck says that the county anticipated the dismissal outcome last week regarding an investigation by the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.

Last week, the State Election Board has dismissed the case against Stephens County regarding its combining the Registrar’s Office and the Probate Court’s office.

The Secretary of State’s office had been investigating Stephens County’s decision to combine the Registrar’s and Probate Court’s offices since June to determine whether Stephens County was running a full-time Registrar’s Office.

Ranck says that the county felt all along that the allegation that the chief registrar did not have a full time office was not accurate because the county knew first hand that it was not set up that way and that there is always a chief or deputy registrar in that office during normal business hours.
