County Recognizes Pulliam for Service

Stephens County honors an outgoing volunteer fire chief coordinator.

At Tuesday’s Stephens County Commission meeting, the board honored Stacy Pulliam who ended his time as the county’s Volunteer Fire Chief Coordinator at the end of December.

County Commission Chairman Dennis Bell said he appreciates Pulliam’s service to the county.

“Stacy has done an excellent job, not only as Fire Coordinator for the county but as Chief over at New Hope,” said Bell. “Something a lot of people in the community do not realize is just how much time these volunteers put in out here and do not get paid for it. Not many people wake up at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning to come put a fire out. I thank God we have those kind of folks in our community.”

Pulliam served as Volunteer Fire Chief Coordinator for Stephens County, coordinating all of the county’s volunteer fire departments, from 2007 to 2015.

He received a plaque from the county honoring and recognizing his service.

Pulliam will continue to serve as the Fire Chief for the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department.

Meanwhile, the county’s new Volunteer Fire Chief Coordinator is Eastanollee Volunteer Fire Chief Jamey Gettys.
