D.A. Candidates Speak At Forum

The candidates running to be Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney appear in Toccoa.

Both George Christian and Bruce Russell, Jr. were at Thursday’s Chamber of Commerce and AM 630 WNEG Town Hall meeting Thursday at the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.

Christian touted his experience as a state and federal prosecutor as one of his biggest strengths.

“You need to make those tough decisions,” said Christian. “I have a wealth of experience in which to base decision making. I have a wealth of experience with people.”

Meanwhile, Russell said he can bring fresh ideas to the office.

“I can bring a fresh perspective to the DA’s office from the private sector,” said Russell. “I know when I work on a lot of my cases, I do not have a lot of resources and I think I can come into the DA’s office and do the job with the minimum amount of resources and return a real good value back to the taxpayer.”

Both are running as Republicans in the May primary and there is no Democratic opposition, so whoever wins will be unopposed in the Fall.
