Dam Dog Walk in Hartwell this Saturday

Just a reminder, if you’re into keeping fit and have a dog, you might want to pencil in this year’s annual Dam Dog Walk in Hartwell.

It takes place Saturday and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Big Oaks Recreation area in Hartwell.

The Dam Dog walk involves walking with your pooch from the Big Oaks Recreation area down to the Hartwell Dam and back, which is about a two-mile walk round trip.

According to Hart County Humane Society President, Donna Madkiff, money raised from the walk goes to help more rescued dogs and cats.

Another aspect of the Dam Dog Walk involves participating pet owners dressing up their canines in costumes for the Best Dog By a Dam Site Annual Pet Pageant.

But you don’t have to do the pageant or the walk to attend the Dam Dog Walk.

Madkiff invites everyone to just come out and enjoy the day with other pet owners.

And if you’re looking for a new furry family companion, there will also be dogs and maybe even a couple of cats available for adoption tomorrow.

Registration is $25 and includes a t-shirt and the Pet Pageant entry fee.

Registration forms can be downloaded from www.harthumane.org or you can register at the event Saturday.
