Dorsey Hopes to use current SPLOST for Technology Upgrades

At the Stephens County Board of Education’s work session last night, Superintendent Bryan Dorsey asked the board’s input on using the leftover $500,000 from the current SPLOST to update technology throughout the school system.

“We are in desperate need in our schools throughout the entire system of copy machines and we still have some teachers working on some very old technology,” said Dorsey. “So I would like to spend some of that money bringing those two things up, along with portable labs for the high school.”

According to Dorsey, spending the current SPLOST funds on these categories has already been approved, he just wanted informal approval from the board to move forward.

Depending on amounts, the board may have to approve specific quotes in the future but Dorsey said he would like to begin working on these technology upgrades this summer.
