Drug Task Force Arrests Two For Meth

A joint investigation leads to two arrests in Stephens County.

On Monday, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office initiated a search warrant at the residence of Jamie Savage on the 600 block of Long Circle in Toccoa.

Authorities said the search warrant was based on multiple tips received from the community.

According to the Drug Task Force, the three-month investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 180 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a quantity of alprazolam, a schedule IV pharmaceutical also packaged for distribution. along with a small amount of marijuana.

They estimated the street value of the seized narcotics is $18,000.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that authorities also seized numerous firearms and vehicles, along with more than $4,700 in cash.

Authorities arrested 40-year-old Ronald James Savage and 37-year-old Carey Lee Wilbanks, both of Toccoa.

They were charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule IV with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Savage and Wilbanks were transported to the Stephens County Detention Center.
