Former Teacher Faces Charges, Says Sheriff’s Office

A former Stephens County school system employee faces charges of Incest and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that 50-year-old Robert Anthony Daniel was arrested last Wednesday, January 13 on the charges.

Daniel is the former girls’ basketball coach at Stephens County High School and a former teacher at Stephens County Middle School.

He resigned from the school system in November 2015.

Shirley said that the alleged incidents occurred between 2005 and 2011 and were reported to authorities in November 2015.

According to Shirley, the alleged incidents involved a family member.

Shirley said an investigation took place following the initial report and a search warrant was executed at Daniel’s residence, where authorities found evidence connected to the allegations.

Interviews were also conducted.

The sheriff said Daniel was arrested as a result of the investigation and remains in the Stephens County Jail awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for February 4.

Meanwhile, Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said that the arrest or case did not have any other connection to the school system, according to information shared with him.
