Four Indicted on Shoplifting Charges

A Stephens County grand jury has indicted four people in connection with shoplifting charges in Toccoa that were allegedly connected to a major shoplifting ring.

Monday, the grand jury indicted three Anderson, South Carolina residents, Kennith Antwan Rice, Genero Gene Maduro, and Dallas Donchez Burris, along with Nathan Juan Gray of Smyrna, Georgia.

Maduro, Gray, and Rice were each indicted on three counts of Theft By Shoplifting, while Burris was indicted on one count of Theft By Shoplifting.

Also, Rice and Gray were each indicted on one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Rice, Maduro, and Burris were all each indicted on one count of Possession of Marijuana, Less Than One Ounce.

According to the indictment, the four men are accused of stealing more than $500 from the Toccoa Wal-Mart on or about September 21.

Rice, Gray, and Maduro are also charged with stealing more than $500 from the Toccoa Wal-Mart around September 8 and around August 7.

According to Toccoa Police, they arrested the men after the final incident after the four men attempted to steal nearly $9,000 in cameras and computer equipment.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell says these people are also suspects in other thefts in other communities.

He says the men were traced to South Carolina, elsewhere in Georgia, and even possibly in North Carolina.
