A Franklin County man is indicted on murder charges after allegedly giving prescription narcotics to a Royston woman who later died.

Last week, the Franklin County Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment against David Allen Bragg on one count of felony murder and two counts of violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

According to the indictment, on July 21, 2016, Bragg allegedly distributed the drug hydrocodone and the drug alprazolam, also known by the prescription name, Xanax, to 59-year old Linda Kay Spinks of Royston.

Prosecutors claim Spinks died that same day after taking both drugs.

The indictment was handed down March 23 and an arrest warrant was immediately issued for his arrest. Bragg has been arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and remains in custody at this time.

Bragg is scheduled for arraignment in May in Franklin County Superior Court.
