A routine traffic stop on Interstate 85 in Franklin County leads to the arrest of a South Carolina man and a major drug bust.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said that it happened earlier this month.

According to Thomas, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with troopers from the Georgia State Patrol Hartwell post, pulled over a 2015 Chevy Traverse at mile marker 170 along I-85 for a traffic violation on August 1.

Thomas said that during the traffic stop, deputies discovered that the driver was driving on a suspended license.

He said that led to a search of the vehicle, which uncovered 6.6 pounds of cocaine with a street value of about $90,000.

Authorities arrested the driver of the vehicle, Chee Davis of Anderson, South Carolina, along with a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Samuel Calhoun of Anderson.

Thomas said both were taken to the Franklin County Detention Center and face a number of charges.

In addition, a hold was placed on the pair for authorities in Anderson, South Carolina.
