Friday Ceremony To Honor Coan

Northeast Georgia will welcome home Paralympic gold medalist McKenzie Coan with an event Friday in Toccoa.

According to the Toccoa Clinic, Coan will be honored with a homecoming celebration on Friday at the Paul Anderson Park in Toccoa.

The celebration will be open to the public and will start at 1 p.m.

The Toccoa Clinic is sponsoring the event for Coan, the daughter of Dr. Marc and Teresa Coan.

Dr. Coan, McKenzie’s father, practices internal medicine with the Toccoa Clinic.

Coan won four medals during the recently completed Rio Paralympic Games and three of those medals were golds.

She won gold in the women’s S7 50-meter, 100-meter, and 400-meter freestyle events and a silver medal in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay.

In addition, she set a Paralympic record in the women’s S7 50-meter freestyle event.
