Ga. DNR Offers Special Fishing Info Website

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said a new website gives tips and advice for the state’s reservoirs and rivers.

According to the DNR’s Wildlife Resources Division, the website is www.gofishgeorgia.com/fishing/opportunities.

The Wildlife Resources Division said it gives anglers of all skill levels in-depth information detailing 32 reservoirs and 18 rivers in one convenient location.

Among the lakes on the website are Burton, Hartwell, Lanier, Rabun, Russell, Tugalo, and Yonah, while rivers on the site include the Chattahoochee and Chattooga.

According to the DNR, the 2017 reservoir and river fishing prospect guides are compiled by Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division fisheries biologists and are based on sampling efforts, knowledge of past fishing trends, staff fishing experiences and discussions with anglers and marina owners.

For even more fishing tips, state officials said that people can check out the weekly fishing blog post at www.georgiawildlife.wordpress.com.

State officials do remind people that anglers must possess a current Georgia fishing license to fish in public waters.
