Ga. DOT Announces Area Road Work

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced road work in Stephens and surrounding counties this week.

According to the DOT, a crew will repair and restore ditches this week on State Highway 145.

Meanwhile in Habersham County, a crew will clean and restore ditches on State Highway 17, while another crew adds rubberized asphalt to State Highway 255. Also in Habersham County, a bridge crew will repair joints on the State Route 15 bridges over Panther Creek.

Elsewhere, a crew in Banks County will inspect underground drainage structures on U.S. Highway 441 and in Rabun County, a crew will mow along U.S. Highway 441.

Work will take place today through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., if weather permits.

The DOT said most activities will only require shoulder or median lane closures.

However, the work on Highway 255 and the Panther Creek bridges in Habersham County will require lane closures.

The DOT reminded motorists to reduce their speed in these and all work zones.
