Ga. DOT Announces Road Work on I-985, I-85

Drivers who use either Interstate 85 in Franklin County or Interstate 985 in Hall County should be aware of road work taking place this week.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said there will be temporary lane closures on I-985 in Hall County and I-85 in Franklin County, weather permitting, this week to accommodate work on replacing the changeable message signs on these two heavily traveled interstates.

The right lane and shoulder of I-985 North and the left southbound lane between Exits 15 and 16 in Hall County will be closed today.

Meanwhile, work on replacing the changeable message sign just north of Exit 24 will also force the closure of the right southbound lane and shoulder of I-985 at that location on Wednesday.

Finally, the right lane of I-85 South at mile post 0.9 just north of the weigh station in Franklin County is scheduled to be closed on Thursday to allow work on replacing the changeable message sign at that location.

The DOT did note that these maintenance operations and the lane closures they necessitate are subject to change.
