Ga. DOT Announces Road Work

The Georgia Department of Transportation is announcing road work in Stephens and surrounding counties for this week.

In Stephens County, a crew will be sealing the joints on the State Route 17 Alternate bridge over the railroad tracks. A lane closure will be required as work occurs.

Meanwhile in Franklin County, a crew will inspect the drainage structures for State Route 51 and State Route 59.

Moving to Banks County, a crew will clean and restore the shoulders alongside State Route 198. The shoulder of the roadway will be closed as the work occurs.

Another Banks County crew will manually clean and inspect the drainage structures for State Route 15/U.S. Highway 441, while another crew trims brush and trees inside the rights of way on State Route 15/U.S. Highway 441.  The shoulder of State Route 15 will be closed as this work occurs.

Finally in Habersham County, a crew will inspect the drainage pipes underneath State Route 15/U.S. Highway 441 and repair slope alongside State Route 255.  The shoulders of the roadway will be closed as this work occurs.

The DOT said crews will work today through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits.

DOT officials remind motorists to reduce their speed in all work zones.
