Ga. DOT Announces Weekly Maintenance Schedule

The Georgia Department of Transportation has work planned in a number of area counties this week.

DOT crews will be working along some roadways this week in Banks, Franklin, and Habersham counties.

In Franklin County, a crew will inspect the drainage system for Interstate 85, closing the shoulder as work occurs.

Elsewhere in Franklin County, a section of damaged guardrail along State Route 8/U.S. Highway 29 will also be replaced.

Moving to Habersham County, a crew will be sealing cracks in the driving surface of State Route 115 from Clarkesville to the White County line. The DOT said that work will require a lane closure.

Finally, a crew in Banks County will clean and restore ditches alongside State Routes 59 and 323, closing the shoulders of those roads in areas where that work will occur.

The DOT said work hours are today through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., if and as weather permits.

DOT officials said the schedule is also subject to change if emergency response or repairs are necessary.

The DOT also reminded motorists to slow down in these and all work zones.
