Ga. DOT Honors Franklin Man For Helping Avalon Mayor

A Franklin County man receives recognition from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Recently, DOT Commissioner Keith Golden presented the December Commissioner’s Customer Service Commendation to Robby Oliver.

The DOT said Oliver was honored for his exemplary assistance to Avalon Mayor Linda Dean.

Dean said Oliver was very helpful in walking her through the entire process to secure LMIG/State Aid funds for Avalon the first time, even helping her complete the paperwork.

Commissioner Golden said that because of Oliver’s exemplary customer service, Mayor Dean respects and is thankful for the Georgia DOT, adding that Oliver was responsive, extremely helpful and created a strong champion for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Oliver has worked with DOT since 1996.

He began as an Engineering Technician with the Carnesville Construction Office and worked his way up to District State Aid Coordinator in 2011, where he was responsible for the coordination of all contracts with Cities and Counties in Northeast Georgia’s District One.  His work included the administration of the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) program.

He now serves as Utilities Liaison for North Georgia.

Oliver is a native of Franklin County. He and his family live in Sandy Cross.
