“Grand” Evening of Music Coming to Toccoa Thursday

The Toccoa Main Street program is organizing an evening of music at the Schaefer Center this week in celebration of a new addition at the Schaefer Center.

“A Grand Evening of Music” is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the SchaeferCenter, located at the corner of Broad and Doyle Streets in downtown Toccoa.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that the night will celebrate the addition of a new feature at the Schaefer Center.

“One of our goals at the Schaefer Center is to provide entertainment for our community and to provide concerts and different things that our people would really enjoy,” said Crosby.  “Just recently, we were able to acquire a baby grand piano and we wanted to celebrate acquiring that.  We also wanted to give an opportunity for our local musicians to have a venue where they could perform.  We are excited about the performers and musicians that will be with us on that night.”

Crosby went on to say that Thursday’s concert will include music from a variety of artists, all highlighting the new piano.

“We will have the Stephens County High School chorus start us off that evening and we are also going to have local musicians from the Symphony,” said Crosby.  “We also have some music professors from Toccoa Falls College.  There is going to be a wide range, from classical music to popular show tunes.  We are excited about this opportunity and we look forward to having a great turnout that evening.”

Performers include Dr. You Ju Lee, David Jones, Chris Shouf, Sophia Han, and Michelle Stephenson.

Doors for “A Grand Evening of Music” at the Schaefer Center will open at 6:30 p.m.

Admission to the 7 p.m. show is free.
