Griffin Resigns As Flowery Branch Head Coach

Stephens County High School alumnus Chris Griffin resigns from the head football coaching position at Flowery Branch.

Griffin announced his decision in the last few days.

He had been the head coach at Flowery Branch since 2012, compiling a total record of 29-23 with the Falcons.

His Falcons teams made the playoffs in 2012 and 2013, but had missed the playoffs the last three seasons.

This past year, Flowery Branch went 3-7.

Griffin served as an assistant coach at Flowery Branch under Lee Shaw for several years, taking the head coaching position when Shaw went to Rabun County.

Stephens County played Flowery Branch earlier this year at the Reservation, winning 41-7 in a non-region game back in September.

Flowery Branch is not the only team on the Indians’ current regular-season schedule that will be looking for a new football coach next year.

Hart County and North Oconee also have coaching vacancies.
