GSP Appoints New Troop B Commander

Capt. Allen MarloweAn Oconee County, Georgia man is the new Troop Commander for Georgia State Patrol Troop B, which includes Stephens County.

This week, Georgia Department of Public Safety Commissioner Colonel Mark McDonough announced the appointment of Captain Allen Marlowe to that post effective as of December 1.

In his new position, Captain Marlowe will oversee the operations of the Georgia State Patrol posts in Toccoa, Hartwell, Gainesville, Cumming, Athens, and Blue Ridge.

Most recently, Marlowe served as the Troop Commander for GSP Troop E since 2013, which includes the posts east of Atlanta along Interstate 20 to the South Carolina line.

Marlowe joined the Department of Public Safety in August 1992 and graduated from the 67th Georgia State Patrol Trooper School in July 1993.

He was assigned to GSP Conyers and also served at GSP Gainesville, GSP Athens, GSP Washington, and GSP Cumming as a supervisor.

Captain Marlowe was promoted to Lieutenant and Assistant Troop Commander for Troop B in 2008.

He was then assigned to headquarters in 2011 where he served as the Assistant to the Commanding Officer and attained the rank of Captain.

During his career, Captain Marlowe has participated in several special details, including the 1996 Olympics, Atlanta Dragway events, the University of Georgia football detail, Tour de Georgia, and G8 Summit.

He has also attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Marlowe attended the University of Georgia and has also worked for the University of Georgia Police Department and the Oconee County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office.
