GSP Releases Information on By-pass Accident Last Week

Authorities have released more information about an accident last week on the Toccoa By-pass.

It happened on Wednesday at about 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of the By-pass and Memorial Drive.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, a 2013 Hyundai Accent driven by 81-year-old Charlotte Asher Williams was traveling west on Memorial Drive and was stopped at the stop sign.

Meanwhile, a 2015 Dodge Ram Cargo Van driven by 46-year-old Ronald Christopher Price was traveling north on the By-pass, or Georgia Highway 17, in the left lane.

The GSP said Williams told troopers she went to answer her phone and must have taken her foot off of the brake.

Troopers reported that the front of Williams’ vehicle struck the right front of Price’s vehicle in the roadway.

According to the GSP, Williams was cited for Failure to Yield While Entering the Roadway.

There was no information provided by the GSP regarding any injuries.
