GSP Releases Information on Wednesday Accident

The Georgia State Patrol has released more information on a wreck Wednesday in Stephens County.

It occurred at about 4:50 p.m. on Georgia Highway 106, around Race Track Road.

According to the GSP, a 2002 Nissan Maxima was traveling north on Highway 106 negotiating a curve.

Troopers said it was then when the Maxima traveled off of the east shoulder, over corrected, and then traveled off of the west shoulder of the roadway.

The GSP said the vehicle then traveled off of an embankment and struck a tree.

Authorities said the driver, 34-year-old Chad A. Lathan, address unknown, was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

According to the GSP, charges are pending in connection to the one-vehicle accident.
