GSP Releases Information on Weekend Accident

The Georgia State Patrol has released information on an accident over the weekend that sent one person to the hospital via helicopter.

It occurred on Saturday during the 9 a.m. hour at State Route 106 and Nub Garland Road.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 106 and approached a 2004 Hyundai XG350 from the rear as it was also headed north on Highway 106 and at a stop anticipating turning left onto Nub Garland Road once traffic cleared.

The GSP said that the motorcycle’s driver, identified as 81-year-old Edward Roy Wilson of Toccoa, did not stop for the other vehicle and swerved to avoid a collision.

However, the report stated that the motorcycle struck the car in the right rear and Wilson was ejected.

Troopers said Wilson was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center via EMS air.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 55-year-old Raymond Allen Turner of Toccoa, was not injured.

Meanwhile, Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said no one was transported to hospital with injuries after a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning at the intersection of Memorial Drive and the Toccoa By-pass.
