Habersham Investigating Reported Incident Between Toccoa, Piedmont College Police Chiefs

A report from an Atlanta TV station indicates that the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged incident that occurred last week involving Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell and Piedmont College Police Chief Chanon Pritchard.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, a report from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office states that Chief Jarrell called law enforcement on September 21 to accompany him to his home.

WNEG has requested a copy of the report from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, but has not received one yet.

Fox 5 said that in the report, it says the night before Jarrell and Pritchard, identified as his girlfriend, had gotten into an argument about a woman he had talked to while the couple was briefly broken up a few weeks prior.

According to the report, the pair had been drinking before the argument and Jarrell told the deputy that “due to [Pritchard] being intoxicated the incident escalated.”

Fox 5 said Jarrell told investigators that he went to his car to get something and when he returned to the house, Pritchard had locked him out and when he asked her to let him in to gather some of his belongings, she allegedly wielded a firearm and told him to just leave, allegedly using profane language.

In the Fox 5 story, the report states that when Jarrell returned the next day with the deputy, they discovered Jarrell’s clothing spread across the ground in front of the home.

Also, the report stated the side mirrors, tail lights and hood of Jarrell’s Ford F-150 were damaged, and his Harley Davidson motorcycle had been pushed to the ground and fuel was leaking from the tank, damage totaling about an estimated $4,500.

According to Fox 5, the Sheriff’s Office report also noted that someone had rifled through Jarrell’s Toccoa Police Department Chevrolet truck, though it was not damaged, and that Jarrell found the credit cards, documents, and money in his wallet cut up, which included his official City of Toccoa Chief of Police Identification Card.

Fox 5 said no charges have been filed against Pritchard, though she has been interviewed.

Both Jarrell and Pritchard tell WNEG they cannot comment on the matter because it is an ongoing investigation.
