Herschel Walker Finds Talent in Toccoa

Herschel Walker seeks out talent in Toccoa.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and University of Georgia football star brought his talent show, “Herschel’s Raw Talent” to the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa on Saturday.

About 80 people of all ages came out to make their three-minute video and try to win the contest.

Walker said Toccoa brought out a ton of great talent to choose from.

“All of the contestants were absolutely great,” said Walker.  “This is the best talent we have seen.”

The event also raised money for ongoing renovations at the SchaeferCenter, as all proceeds from admissions will go towards the effort.

Walker also made a donation to the Schaefer Center renovations.

He said he enjoys the opportunity to give back to the communities he visits.

“We are not coming in to raise money, we are trying to give something back,” said Walker.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said the city appreciates Walker working with it on the Schaefer Center project.

“We are working on the facade to get the marquis back up,” said Crosby.  “There are many projects within the building itself.”

Walker said the contestants’ videos will now be judged and the top three videos will be selected for winning cash prizes and soon after, the top 15 videos will be selected and go online to be seen and begin having the chance to raise money through e-commerce on the “Cinsay” video player website, www.cinsay.com.
