High Speed Chase in Bank County leads to Arrest

A high-speed chase on Sunday led to an arrest and the discovery of $70,000 in Banks County.

According to the Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol, a trooper stopped a speeding vehicle Sunday night in the southbound lane of I-85 near mile marker 154.

The trooper told AccessWDUN that the vehicle had reached speeds of up to 90 miles an hour.

After interviewing the driver and occupants, the trooper  became suspicious of criminal activity and had his K-9 officer search the car.

K-9 officer Bull found the money, but the vehicle occupants would not claim about $50,000 of the cash.

All of the money was taken into custody and an investigation is ongoing by the Banks County Sheriff’s office.

So far, authorities are not saying what sort of suspicious activity is suspected.

The names of the driver and passengers have not been released.
