Hospital Announces Christmas Card Contest Winner

Stephens County Hospital recognizes a local student for winning its annual Christmas Card contest.

Thursday, hospital officials went to Toccoa Elementary School to congratulate 4th grader Luke Duncan on winning this year’s Christmas Card contest.

Each year, 4th and 5th graders submit artwork that the hospital chooses from and the winning design is used on the front of the hospital’s Christmas card.

Duncan said he wanted to draw something that represented the true meaning of Christmas.

“Baby Jesus, the three Wise Men, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and sheep,” said Duncan about what was on his drawing.

Stephens County Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said he did a great job, but adds it is always a tough choice.

“We had many submissions from the fourth and fifth graders and this is one my favorite things that we do,” said Anderson. “We get them all in the room. We put them out on tables and we go around and look at them. Luke’s was chosen because his card had the entire Christmas story in one picture. He had the manger scene, the wise men, the camels, the angels. It was perfect. That is why we chose his.”

Duncan also received a special gift from the hospital for having this year’s winning Christmas Card design.

He said he was excited to have his picture chosen.
