Hotel Room Search Leads to Drug Arrests

Two people face drug charges after police searched their hotel room last week.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said that it occurred on the morning of October 27 when police were called to the Country Hearth Inn.

“We responded and met with the clerk for what they believed to be an odor of burnt marijuana coming from a room,” said Jarrell.  “Officers approached the room, knocked on the door, and the door was answered by a white female.”

That woman, 22-year-old Jennifer Haley Threlkeld of Eastanollee, allowed police to enter the room.

Jarrell said police found a number of things once they went inside.

“When officers entered the room, they observed a black pocket knife on the table, a transparent container on the nightstand next to the bed, several baggies, some suspected methamphetamine, and some marijuana, and some objects used in the smoking or ingestion of marijuana.”

Jarrell said that Threlkeld was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

He went on to say a second person, 23-year-old Jeremy Lee Mans of Toccoa, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.

The chief said this is a good example of the hotel and police working together to eliminate a problem.

“We very much appreciate the cooperation,” said Jarrell.  “The hotel management and staff have been very good to work with.”

Jarrell said this is the first incident like this police have had at the hotel since it re-opened earlier this year.
