An Oklahoma man is behind bars in Franklin County facing drug trafficking charges.

According to Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post Spokesman Corporal Matt Baxley, the arrest came Saturday night on Interstate 85 near mile marker 173.

Baxley said that Trooper First Class Roger Fuller conducted a traffic stop on a 1993 Nissan passenger car on I-85 northbound and during the stop, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Russell Eworth from Midwest City, Oklahoma.

According to Baxley, Trooper Fuller had the driver exit the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana emitting from the inside and during a search of the vehicle, the trooper found two different types of drugs in the car.

He said Trooper Fuller located approximately nine ounces of methamphetamine, along with a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.

Eworth was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, DUI, possession of marijuana, driving while license suspended, along with other traffic violations, according to Baxley.

At last report, Eworth remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
