Ida Cox Music Series Kicks Off Saturday

An annual music series kicks off another year this Saturday night in downtown Toccoa.

Toccoa Main Street’s annual Ida Cox Music Series starts on Saturday night.

Each Saturday night in June and July, starting at 7 p.m., performers will take the stage on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

The concerts are free to attend each Saturday night.

Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that they are looking forward to another strong season.

“This is the fifth year that we have had our Ida Cox Music Series and it keeps growing every year,” said Crosby. “We are excited this year for the lineup that we have. We have great groups coming.”

Crosby said this week’s initial headline act is Toccoa Jazz.

“Many people are familiar with them,” said Crosby. “They played last year, so we are really excited to have them back. They brought a great crowd in last year and we are hoping to have another great crowd this Saturday night.”

Also taking place this Saturday prior to the concert is a corn hole tournament being sponsored by the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce.

Crosby said everyone is invited to come downtown to Doyle Street on Saturday for a great evening of music and fellowship.

“We invite people to come down and just enjoy a nice evening of music and activities and good food as well,” said Crosby.

In case of rain, the concerts will move inside to the Schaefer Center at the corner of Broad and Doyle streets in downtown Toccoa.
