Indian Baseball Drops Second Game To Jefferson

The Jefferson Dragons took advantage of 10 Stephens County walks and held off a furious rally late to defeat the Indians 9-7 Wednesday night in Region-8 AAAA high school baseball.

The Indians out hit the Dragons 15-6 in the contest and rallied from six runs down in the 7th to pull within two with the tying run at second before the Dragons Lane Watkins struck out the final two batters to end the game. The Indians were led in hitting by Kole Rogers and Griff Pruitt with three hits each. Dawson Sorrells and Dylan Huff had 2 RBI’s each. Patrick Hickox picked up the win for Jefferson with Chaz Bridges taking the loss.

Stephens County falls to 1-4 in Region play and 11-9 overall. Jefferson kept pace with Oconee County on top of the Region improving to 4-1 and 13-5 overall.

The win was the second straight for the Dragons over Stephens County. The two teams will play the series finale on Friday night at the Reservation with airtime at 5:45 P.M. and first pitch at 5:55 P.M. on WNEG.
